CrossFit Apopka Website Launch

I recently launched the new website for CrossFit Apopka and I’m really happy with how it turned out. My client is opening his doors on April 4 and we had a short turnaround time in order to get a web presence up for people responding to his marketing and also to take advantage of any organic searches online. We launched the site a couple of days ago and already have potential clients responding and finding us via the Web.

Additionally, the new site went from the 3rd page of Google search results to the 1st page for certain search terms in just two weeks after the launch.

From start to the finish, the site took about 1.5 weeks to complete. It took me about three days to configure and develop for, with some small CSS changes and bug fixes. Using the WPBakery Visual Composer for the first time had the biggest learning curve – full disclosure, I didn’t read the instructions first!

The site is on the latest version of WordPress with the Gameplan premium theme. The client had all of his content ready beforehand so it was a simple matter of cleaning it up and plugging it in.

What I like about the theme: clean layout, the Revolution slider, a useful theme options area, WooCommerce ready (we plan on using this in the future), Google fonts, and the page builder via Visual Composer. The page builder really lets you create any page layout you want and I used it to make the homepage.

My only real gripe with the theme is it feels slow loading, especially on the backend, which could be attributed to the high number of plugins it needs. This isn’t a lightweight theme. The visual composer probably contributes to that as well. If you’re considering using this theme, you’ll want to make sure your web hosting has plenty of resources dedicated to the site. Definitely have a good caching plugin loaded!

Let me know what you think. We’ll be adding much more content to the site in the next couple of weeks.
