Dope New Artist: I love finding artists I’ve never heard of who have a relatively small number of listens and followers but make awesome music. I found Eastghost, from Portland, with this ethereal and melodic track. I think this one pairs well with SATRN, one of Deadmau5’s latest records. Keep an eye out for Eastghost, I think he’ll blow up.
Fav Artist of 2019: I’ve been getting really into EDX, who has been on a tear this year. All of his new original stuff is excellent and his remixes always bump. The No Xcuses Show is a must listen every week. He mashed up his new track “Neptune” with “Chemicals” on the show, which sounded perfect, so I downloaded the acapella and tried it myself. Both are in the key of D flat and about the same tempo. I hope I did it justice.
Banger of the Week: BREAK LAW rocks. Love the trippy Indian + trap vibes. Fun fact, the sample is from a song called “Sona Sona” from the Hindi action film, Major Saab, which is also kind of a banger. Skrillex, stay weird, my dude.
Remix of the Week: Guetta and MORTEN bring a real epic-ness and gravity to Avicii’s Heaven, a song that already carries an immense emotional weight. This one moves me.
